Wednesday is expected to be a pivotal day for the controversial Minto West development proposed in Palm Beach County’s the Acreage community.
Three public hearings on changes to the county’s comprehensive plan, land development code and zoning rules to accommodate the massive project are scheduled, followed by votes from commissioners at the end of the meeting. County staff is suggesting the approval of the 4,500-home development, which would also include 2.1 million square feet of office and retail space, a college and a hotel. Minto West would be constructed on 3,800 acres at the site of the former Callery-Judge citrus grove.
Opponents of Minto West planned to hold a rally outside the Palm Beach County Governmental Center on Wednesday morning, according to the Palm Beach Post. A horse draped in a “No to Minto” sign was to be brought to the rally. [Palm Beach Post] — Eric Kalis
