North Beach could use more upscale, apartment-style hotels.

That’s the take-away from an interview in the Daily Business Review with South Beach hotel scion Nathan Lieberman, who is branching out from the family-run business that owns 11 boutique hotels below 21st Street. Over the past six months, Nathan and his brother Alan have been buying garden-style apartments in North Beach with the goal to create extended-stay hotels, which Nathan described as “just an inexpensive alternative for young couples and families.”

Lieberman credited the mayor of Miami Beach and developer David Martin of Terra Group with revitalizing the neighborhood and creating further opportunities there. [Daily Business Review] – Jennifer White Karp
