Auto dealer Chuck Schumacher suddenly withdrew an appeal against a new hearing on the demolition 105 Clarendon Avenue without explanation.
This fall, Schumacher landed in hot water after demolishing a portion of the landmarked house without the Landmarks Preservation Commission’s consent. In September, the commission approved an after-the-fact demolition of sections of Vita Serena, a 1926 Marion Sims Wyeth-designed Palladian-style home, according to the Palm Beach Daily News.
Commission chairman William Cooley has since pushed to reopen the case and fine Schumacher. [Palm Beach Daily News] – Christopher Cameron
