Homeowner litigation has halted progress at the Prive at Island Estates condominium project in Aventura.
The project’s presales have reportedly suffered as a result of the lawsuit and prevented major construction at the site, which will have 160 units in two 16-story towers, in addition to amenities and restaurants on an eight-acre private island in the Intracoastal Waterway.
The dispute is over a sidewalk the homeowners do not want Prive to build across their properties, the South Florida Business Journal reported. Nearly half of the 77 unit reservations chose not to proceed with their contracts and recovered their deposits, developer Gary Cohen said at a Sept. 22 Miami-Dade County Circuit Court hearing. Cohen attributed that to the litigation with the neighbors, the paper reported. [South Florida Business Journal] – Katherine Kallergis
