Ansca Homes built 20 homes in a Delray Beach community without contracts from buyers – a risky move that could have cost millions.
Ansca decided to build the Villaggio Reserve speculative homes after potential buyers were disappointed they couldn’t move in before the holidays, according a published report.
Villaggio, a 55-plus community, opened for sales in January, and 206 homes in the 571-lot community have already sold, the Palm Beach Post reported. Villaggio Reserve home prices begin in the $290,000s.
“A spec home is actually a benefit in terms of incremental business to those builders willing to build them,” South Florida regional director for Metrostudy David Cobb said in the article. “I also think Ansca is anticipating the onset of the winter selling season, which should commence next month through April.” [Palm Beach Post] – Katherine Kallergis
