Index Investment Group and its subsidiary Florida Keys Resort just announced the acquisition of the Florida Keys Country Club through a joint venture with Robert Leef and Peter Rosasco.

The joint venture will redevelop the country club property, located in Marathon. Renovations will include a redeveloped golf course, the construction of 110 hotel rooms, 15 villas and a marina, for about $60 million.

“This is a natural progression of our portfolio and will provide valuable economic development to Marathon and the Florida Keys through jobs, tourism, business and recreation,” Bjarne Borg, CEO of Index Investment Group, said in a press release.

Index already has significant holdings in the Florida Keys, including two apartment rental communities: Little Torch Cottages, a 48-unit multi-family rental housing community in Little Torch Key that was completed at the end of last year; and Tarpon Harbour, a 106-unit multi-family rental housing community located in Marathon that is scheduled to break ground in March of this year.  — Kristina Puga
