Construction on the marina for North Miami Beach’s Marina Palms Yacht Club & Residences is underway, developers announced Wednesday.

Foundation piles and the seawall for the marina have been completed and the overwater dock system is currently under construction, according to a press release. The development is the first in more than 20 years to have a marina and yacht club component.

Kearns Construction Company, which also worked on PortMiami, began clearing the yacht basin late last year. Kearns dredged about 2,000 cubic yards of sand and silt from the sea floor for the basin, which will be able to fit 112 slips for yachts up to 100 feet in length, the press release said.

The dock system will feature two fixed docks and a floating dock down the center of the marina. All boat slips will be wired for electricity and high-speed Internet.

The project will have two 25-story towers and a combined 468 units. Prices for units start in the low $800,000’s. — Katherine Kallergis
