The Miami Downtown Development Authority is moving forward with a beautification project that aims to narrow a section of Biscayne Boulevard.
The proposed Biscayne Green would remove up to two lanes from a stretch of Biscayne Boulevard for new bike paths, wider sidewalks and landscaping. The promenade would extend from Northeast Eighth Street to Biscayne Boulevard Way, Miami Today reported.
Parking in the area, which includes the AmericanAirlines Area, Bayfront Park, Bayside and the future site of SkyRise Miami, will be affected if the proposal is approved.
The Miami Parking Authority will reportedly lose 201 parking spaces and $1.2 million in parking revenue annually. In their place will be a landscaped linear park and bike path. [Miami Today] — Sean Stewart-Muniz
