Following the Broward panel of The Real Deal‘s Broward Real Estate Forum & Showcase, TRD’s Managing Editor Ina Cordle sat with Dora Puig of Luxe Living Realty to ask: who’s buying in South Florida?
Puig said domestic buyers are starting to return as a major force in the ultra-luxury sector of the market, especially from cities like Chicago. High net worth individuals from the Northeastern U.S. are also buying.
She said the trend could be explained by Florida’s lack of income tax and by the relentless cold from the past two winters.
As for international buyers, Puig said she’s still seeing Russians trickle in on Fisher Island. When asked what Russians look for in a residence, Puig emphasized one aspect: services.
TRD’s forum, held on April 23 at the Design Center of the Americas in Dania, hosted two discussion panels: the first was an exploration of Broward’s evolution as a living destination, and the second debated the role of foreign investors in the future of South Florida’s real estate market.
