Healthcare billionaire Mike Fernandez bought a 1.23-acre vacant lot next to his Gables Estates mansion, Miami-Dade County records show.
Fernandez paid $9.5 million for the waterfront property on Arvida Parkway. Aurelio Leyva and Lilianna Leyva were the sellers. Aurelio Leyva is president and CEO of a Miami-based manufacturing company called CE.
Fernandez, founder and chairman of MBF Healthcare Partners, owns the 5.38-acre waterfront estate next door at 1 Arvida Parkway, which includes 10 bedrooms, eight bathrooms, two half-baths, tennis courts, a pool, Jacuzzi, gazebo and dock. Fernandez paid $20.6 million for the 30,726-square-foot mansion in January 2004, according to Miami-Dade property records. It was developed in 2010.
Earlier this year, he put contracts on condos at the planned Park Grove in Coconut Grove. He purchased a two-story, 5,000 square-foot condominium with four bedrooms, five-and-a-half baths and a private swimming pool; and a nearly 2,000 square foot condo, with two bedrooms and two baths, for his daughter.
