The Hampton Inn by Hilton Miami South Beach has opened on Collins Avenue, Hilton announced on Tuesday.

The 69-room hotel, at 1700 Collins, joins a number of mid-price branded properties in Miami Beach. Claremont Partner will manage the site. The three-story hotel features a lobby bar, rooftop pool and business center.

“Those traveling on business will be able to make use of our business center amenities, and the proximity to the Miami Beach Convention Center, yet be able to take the time to enjoy our rooftop pool and access to Miami’s beautiful white sand beaches,”  Mitchell Bermudez, general manager, said in a press release.

The property marks the first Hampton Inn in Miami Beach. It was formerly the Claremont Hotel, built in 1947, according to Miami-Dade County property records. The 14,200-square-foot property last sold for $10 million in 2008.

Jonathan Kracer, managing principal of Sion Capital, a hospitality real estate and consulting firm, said the redevelopment of the Claremont follows a trend of new mid-priced lifestyle hotels, such as the AC Hotel by Marriott, Aloft South Beach and the Hyatt Centric. Kracer said the market is not oversaturated with similar hotels and that they make South Beach “more accessible.”

“In particular, [the Hampton Inn] follows this trend and allows guests to explore the local culture through curated photography, artwork, and food and beverage elements,” Kracer told The Real Deal.

The property is across the street from the Gale South Beach and the Kaskades Suites, as well as the SLS South Beach, the latter of which sold for $125 million in June. — Katherine Kallergis
