From the New York site: Stuck with a property that just won’t move? Consider throwing in a pizza oven – and maybe a little history.
Take the case of Franco Facili and his real estate agent, Frank Galeano. Facili was having a hard time finding a tenent for his Red Hook property. That is, until he knocked down an interior wall and discovered a coal-fired oven dating back to the mid-1800s, according to the New York Post.
When the oven was added to the listing, interest picked up.
“Without the pizza oven, we couldn’t rent it,” Galeano says. “The location is an empty windswept block under the highway.”
A similar new oven would cost $30,000 to $50,000, the Post reports.
And Facili isn’t the only one to improve his luck with an oven. Last year, a space in Chelsea with a nearly $20,000 Neapolitan oven custom-built by famed oven-maker Stefano Ferrara hit the market. Right away, restaurateur Maurizio de Rosa snapped it up.
“When you get a chance to play with a Stradivarius, you take it!” he told Eater.
