Sunset Island mansion back on the market after $2M price cut
A waterfront mansion on one of Miami Beach’s Sunset Islands is back on the market after its price was cut by $2 million to $11.9 million.
The home, located at 1616 West 28th Street on the northernmost island, was first put up for sale by owner Marsha Rappaport for $13.9 million in early 2015.
It’s a 1930’s-era estate that was built by noted architect Russell Pancoast, who designed a number of historic buildings in Florida like the original Surf Club in Miami Beach.
In 2000 — three years after Rappaport paid $1.125 million for the estate — the home underwent an extensive renovation, which included partial demolition and rebuilding. More recently, Rappaport installed a new dock and seawall, according to Miami-Dade County records.
Nelson Gonzalez of Esslinger Wooten Maxwell has the listing. The asking price breaks down to $1,389 per square foot.
Measuring 8,567 square feet, the estate has eight bedrooms, seven bathrooms and 100 feet of water frontage on its nearly half-acre lot.
Some its updated features: a modern kitchen, marble and herringbone oak floors, updated master bathroom complete with standing shower and tub, plus a redone swimming pool that faces the water.
