Coral Gables-based Meyers Group plans to build a 22-story hotel and apartment building in El Paso, Texas.

Plans filed with the city’s planning commission show that Meyers Group is proposing to build a 256-foot-tall building with 228 apartments and 219 hotel rooms, plus 41,691 square feet of retail space and parking for 715 vehicles.

Weekly newspaper El Paso Inc. also reported that construction could start in six months and would take about 18 months to complete.

Alan Losada, chief operating officer of Meyers Group, told the newspaper the hotel brand for the project hasn’t been selected yet.

“I personally believe this is going to be great for El Paso and will open doors for these kinds of buildings and amenities that right now people in El Paso don’t have access to,” Losada told El Paso Inc.

Meyers Group, founded by chairman and CEO Stuart I. Meyers, opened an office in El Paso last fall. The company has built a cumulative total of 18,000 rental apartments, mainly in Florida. [El Paso Inc.] — Mike Seemuth
