VOS breaks ground on Greystone Hotel: PHOTOS

VOS Hospitality broke ground this month on renovations of a 1936 Miami Beach hotel.

VOS acquired the Greystone, at 1920 Collins Avenue, in 2012 along with the former Santa Barbara hotel next door two years later. Together, VOS paid $14.5 million for both properties.

VOS now plans to combine the two properties into a 56,000-square-foot hotel with 92 rooms, a rooftop pool and bar, restaurant on the ground floor with 140 seats and an undisclosed basement lounge. The Greystone’s Art Deco facade will remain intact, as will its lobby area. A piece of the Santa Barbara will also be restored, but the rest will be redeveloped into a five-story addition with each floor stepping back to create eight private terraces. Architecture firm Shulman + Associates is designing the project.

The renovations will be completed by the end of 2017. – Katherine Kallergis and Sean Stewart-Muniz
