The popular Pembroke Pines doughnut shop Mojo Donuts is rolling into Miami and set to open its doors by the end of August.

Since it was founded about three and a half years ago, Mojo Donuts has landed itself as one of the top doughnut shops in the country, owner/operator Jimmy Piedrahita told The Real Deal.

Piedrahita said Mojo Donuts looked at more than 100 locations in Miami before it settled on a roughly 1,600-square-foot corner space with outdoor seating at 8870 Bird Road. Accessibility and parking were key, he said. Paola Echeverri brokered the lease.

“We were asked to be in Wynwood. We were asked to be in Coconut Grove. We were asked to be in South Miami,” Piedrahita said. “We didn’t want to be a destination location. Westchester was pretty much as central as we could be.”

Other Miami doughnut shops include Federal Donuts and the Salty Donut, both in Wynwood.

Mojo Donuts will be open from 6 a.m. to sellout. Piedrahita said he has plans to open third and fourth locations in Miami over the next three years.

On an average day, the Pembroke Pines location churns out about 2,000 doughnuts, with about 40 options, in-house. Lines are often out the door, he said, and are busiest on holidays, including Valentine’s Day and Mother’s Day.

“It’s like Black Friday,” Piedrahita told TRD. “People actually bring chairs and sit outside.”
