Florida firm counters flat movie-theater growth
Despite flat growth nationwide in the number of movie theaters, Epic Theatres is a Florida-based family business that is growing by offering a film experience that home systems can’t duplicate. At theaters Epic opened this year in Jacksonville and the Orlando area, for example, the company installed technology that can make a bouncing-ball sound seem to come from overhead or beneath the floor.
Deltona-based Epic also features leather push-button recliner seats with footrests. The company has theaters in Clermont, DeLand, Deltona, Palm Coast, St. Augustine, and Hendersonville, North Carolina. Next year, Epic expects to open new theaters in Mount Dora and Titusville.
