Wurzak Hotel Group breaks ground on Fort Lauderdale hotel: PHOTOS

Wurzak Hotel Group broke ground in late September on a dual-branded Fort Lauderdale hotel, set to open by the spring of 2018.

The hotel developer closed on a $56 million construction loan from Bank of the Ozarks in August for the 24-story, 323-key Dalmar and Element by Westin Suites hotel.

The development, at 299 North Federal Highway, breaks down to a 209-room Tribute hotel, called The Dalmar, and the 114-room Element hotel. It will also feature 12,000 square feet of retail space and a 206-space parking deck. Wurzak said he’s in talks with a boutique fitness concept, juice/coffee concepts, and a restaurant that will open up to the corner of U.S. 1 and Southeast Third Street for the retail space.

Tutor Perini Building Corporation is the general contractor. Construction is expected to take 18 months. – Katherine Kallergis and Sean Stewart-Muniz
