Designer Rebecca Taylor has just opened her first boutique in Florida at Aventura Mall.
The 1,400-square-foot store is on the mall’s first floor near Macy’s.
For years, Taylor has said she wanted to open a store in the Miami area. She said she had also looked into such locations as Bal Harbour Shops and Miami’s Design District.
The new Aventura boutique will carry Rebecca Taylor ready-to-wear, as well as exclusive products, limited edition collaborations, and her recently launched casual and denim line — LA VIE Rebecca Taylor.
The store is Rebecca Taylor’s ninth standalone store, in addition to three boutiques in New York City, and stores in White Plains, New York; Newport Beach and Los Angeles, California; Atlanta and Scottsdale, Arizona.
Miami is considered one of the most coveted retail markets in the nation, according to Kristin Mueller, chief operating officer of retail for JLL. Retail sales per square foot are the highest nationwide at $768 per square foot, she said at a recent CREW-Miami event.
Aventura Mall, at 19501 Biscayne Boulevard, is owned 66.7 percent by Turnberry Associates and 33.3 percent by Simon Property Group. The mall is undergoing an expansion to include a new three-story, 241,000-square-foot retail wing and parking garage. The mall first opened in 1983, then doubled its size in 1997 and added Nordstrom and a three-level wing of high-end stores in 2007. It has more than 2.7 million square feet of space, making it the third largest shopping mall in the United States, behind Mall of the America in Minnesota and King of Prussia Mall in Pennsylvania. — Ina Cordle
