Miami’s second SBE hotel will open its doors to the public on Friday.
SLS Brickell, a 124-room hotel and 450-unit condo tower, is completed and set to start recording condo closings by the end of the month, Carlos Rosso, president of the Related Group’s development division, told The Real Deal.
The Arquitectonica-designed 55-story building, at 1300 South Miami Avenue, includes two restaurants led by high-profile chefs, Bazaar Mar by chef Jose Andres and Fi’lia by chef Michael Schwartz. The latter will open to the public on Friday, while Bazaar Mar will open in early November.
The hotel component features guest rooms designed by Philippe Starck, a mural by Markus Linnenbrink on the exterior, and a lobby sculpture by Bernardi Roig. For SBE, it’s the second Miami-area hotel after SLS South Beach opened in 2012.
Room rates start at $319 and suites at $519. The hotel will not offer a rental program for condo owners, Arash Azarbarzin, president of SBE, told TRD. “We didn’t want to have 400 condos rented on a nightly basis,” he said.
SLS Brickell residents and hotel guests will have access to a fitness center, Ciel spa, a pool deck on the 10th floor with three pools with outdoor dining and private cabanas, a private screening room, a sky roof, concierge services, in-room dining by Jose Andres, and other 24-hour services. The building will also have about 10,000 square feet of event space and a salon, likely operated by IGK Salon, sources told TRD.
“I think it’s going to materialize the way we want it,” Rosso said, citing Brickell City Centre’s opening as part of Brickell’s transformation. “The street-level restaurants will change the way hotels are perceived in Brickell.”
Two units remain unsold of the 450 SLS-branded condos, Rosso told TRD. The majority of buyers are from Latin America, with Argentinians leading the pack, as well as a group of buyers from Turkey.
Residents will have complimentary beach access to SLS South Beach for one year, Azarbarzin said.
Related and SBE are working together on a number of projects in South Florida and Latin America, including one blocks away from SLS Brickell: SLS Lux, a 58-story building with 450 residences and 78 hotel condo suites set to open next year. Allen Morris Company is a partner on that project.
“SLS Lux will be positioned higher in the market,” Azarbarzin said. Rates will be up to $100 more a night for suites at SLS Lux.
