Howard Lorber: President Trump will be more “thoughtful” than the candidate

Longtime friend distinguishes between the two

There’s candidate Trump, and then there’s President Trump. According to Howard Lorber, the two are a bit different.

The Vector Group CEO and Douglas Elliman chair told CNBC that president-elect Donald Trump will be more pragmatic than he appeared during his campaign. Lorber, a longtime friend of Trump and one of his more outspoken supporters in the real estate industry, joined other allies in making a distinction between president and candidate.

“I think you’re going to see a Donald Trump who’s … much more thoughtful on what he says and positions he takes. I think you’re going to see a warm person, which he’s always been,” Lorber said.

Similarly, Trump advisor Thomas Barrack Jr. told NPR on Sunday that when Trump becomes president, the public will see “a kinder, softer, more compassionate, more conciliatory, professional executive.”

After the election, real estate executives in New York City both rejoiced and lamented Trump’s victory.
