Mystery buyer scoops up Trump’s childhood home for $1.3M

From the New York website: You’d think the former home of a future president would be a stronger selling point. Alas, a mystery buyer snapped up the childhood home of President-elect Donald Trump for $1.25 million, just a smidge higher than its previous listing price of $1.2 million.

Restaurateur Isaac Kestenberg and his wife sold the home to an investor who plans to quickly flip the Tudor-style Jamaica Estates home, the New York Post reported. An auction for the home is being held Jan. 17.

The couple, in the process of divorcing, initially placed the 85-15 Wareham Place on the market in June for $1.7 million. After a few price chops, they decided to auction the property in October, only to abruptly cancel the sale.

After the election, broker Dolly Lenz told the Post that Trump’s victory would likely boost the value of the Queens home. While that doesn’t seem to be the case with this mystery buyer, Misha Haghani, of auction house Paramount Realty USA, said the January auction is a chance for a bidder to “name their price to own a piece of history.”
