Baptist Health South Florida wants to build a 30,000-square-foot, $30 million medical office building in the Cornerstone Corporate Center in Plantation.
Its proposal will go before Plantation’s Review Committee on January 24th, during which time each department will review the site plan.
The medical office building, which will be accompanied by a 43,000-square-foot parking garage, comes on the heels of a plan, submitted by Mill Creek Residential, a luxury apartment developer, to build 300 apartments nearby.
The apartment developer received approval by the city council for a land use plan amendment on Nov. 9, 2016. Until then, both the Mill Creek Residential parcel and the Baptist Health South Florida parcel were zoned for office use. The site plan for the apartments will be reviewed by the planning and zoning committee on February 7th.
The two projects will be on either side of the Renaissance Hotel in Cornerstone. The medical office building is being built on the last office parcel in Cornerstone and the last available parcel.
There is as yet no timetable for the Baptist Health South Florida building because it is too early in the process, Gayle Easterling, senior planner with the city, told The Real Deal.
