A five-bedroom house in Palm Beach owned by the late founder of Enterprise Rent-A-Car sold for $7.3 million.

Enterprise founder Jack C. Taylor, a billionaire who died last July, had purchased the 6,654-square-foot house at 146 Gulfstream Road in Palm Beach in 2007 for $6.7 million.

Forbes magazine reported about a year ago that Taylor ranked 246 among the richest people in the world, with a personal net worth of $5.3 billion.

The buyers are Carlos A. Arrendondo and his wife Mari V. Arrendondo.  They put the house under contract about a month after it was listed for sale Dec. 2 with an asking price of $8.25 million.

Two agents of Brown Harris Stevens, John O. Pickett III and his wife K.C. Pickett, worked with both the buyers and the seller of the house, which the Picketts themselves owned from 2002 to 2004. They sold it to an entrepreneur named Casey Cowell, who, in turn, sold it to Taylor.

Taylor bought the house after filing for divorce from Susan Taylor, his second wife, who still owns a house on South Ocean Boulevard that they previously shared. Taylor deeded the house, located in the Billionaire’s Row section of South Ocean Boulevard, to his ex-wife in 2008. [Palm Beach Daily News] Mike Seemuth
