Apple will open its first downtown Miami-area store at Brickell City Centre on March 25.
The Brickell store, on the second floor of the 500,000-square-foot shopping mall, will be the largest for Apple in Florida. MacRumors first reported the opening date for the store, which will be the fifth Apple retail store in Miami-Dade, joining Lincoln Road in Miami Beach, Aventura Mall, Dadeland Mall and the Falls.
Miami.com reported that the Brickell City Centre location will have a “boardroom” for training and advice reserved for entrepreneurs, developers and business customers, as well as “the forum,” a space with a video wall for customized programming.
Swire Properties, Whitman Family Development and Simon Property Group opened the shops at Brickell City Centre, at 701 South Miami Avenue, in November. At least 68 stores and restaurants have opened, including anchor tenant Saks Fifth Avenue, Cole Haan, Bath & Body Works, Luke’s Lobster and Pubbelly Sushi and Tacology.
Zara and Mac Cosmetics are set to open this fall, and Cinemex is also preparing to open this month. The CMX dine-in movie theater will be the first in the U.S. for the Mexico-based chain. La Centrale, a three-story, 38,000-square-foot Italian food hall, is also planning to open in the fall.
Overall, Brickell City Centre is a $1.05 billion, mixed-use development that also includes residential, hotel and office components. Nearby development includes Brickell Heights, SLS Lux and a planned skyscraper called “18.” [Miami.com] – Katherine Kallergis
