A Miami-based firm just scored a $13.15 million construction loan for its planned TownePlace Suites by Marriott in West Kendall, property records show.
Ocean Bank was the lender. Records show Sunflower Hospitality at Kendall LLC, led by Manuel Henriques Moniz, paid about $1.6 million for the site in 2011.
The Marriott-branded hotel will offer 116 rooms, according to a notice of commencement. The hotel broke ground south of Southwest 88th Street along 162nd Avenue. The lot at 9055 Southwest 162nd Avenue spans about 85,088 square feet or nearly 2 acres.
Delant Construction is leading the project. TownePlace Suites by Marriott offers one- and two-bedroom suites with fully-equipped kitchens, according to its website. The hotel is near the recently-built West Kendall Baptist Hospital.
The West Kendall suburban area is seeing additional development. Nearby, CVS Pharmacy bought an office building for $7.5 million with plans to build a new store and a BB&T Bank.
