Auto insurance company Windhaven Insurance is shifting gears into a new office space near Doral, where it plans to move its headquarters, according to the firm that brokered the deal.

Property records show Windhaven paid $10.4 million, or about $180 per square foot, for a 57,500-square-foot office building at 3155 Northwest 77th Avenue. The company will be moving out of its two offices at 7300 Northwest 19th Street and in the Doral Commons office building at 8550 Northwest 33rd Street, according to a release.

An entity of the Miami-based transportation company, Transportation America, led by Rene Gonzalez, Raymond Gonzalez, Rodolfo Rodriguez-Duret and Graciela Victorero, sold the building, records show. The entity paid $4.7 million for the building in 2014.

Avison Young’s John K. Crotty and David F. Spillers represented the buyer. Chip Faulkenberry, also of Avison Young, will be overseeing the moving and buildout process, according to the release.

The three-story building sits on a 2.8-acre lot. Features include an on-site backup generator, a gated entrance, lobby area, cafeteria, and private parking.

Windhaven has offices in Tampa and Dallas. The company provides coverage to more than 230,000 policyholders and has written more than $1 billion in auto insurance premiums, according to its website.

The office market in Doral saw some of the largest big ticket trades this year. Last month, a company tied to TA Realty paid $96.1 million for One Park Square, a Class A office building next to CityPlace Doral. – Amanda Rabines
