JLL just hired Ryan Nunes away from CBRE.

Nunes joined JLL on Monday as executive vice president of the brokerage’s Broward and Palm Beach offices. He was a vice president at CBRE and previously worked for Studley in Washington, D.C.

His previous clients include Princess Cruise Lines, the city of Fort Lauderdale and Convey Health Solutions, according to a press release from JLL. The Chicago-based firm plans to expand its footprint in Broward and Palm Beach, managing director Alan Kleber said.

Nunes recently arranged for the expansion of Convey in downtown Fort Lauderdale, where the tech-oriented health company is taking 33,000 square feet at One Financial Center.

He will be mainly focused on tenant representation, working with Kleber and Matthew Goodman, also a managing director, to grow the firm’s footprint in both counties.

Nunes said “the opportunity to join a collaborative and innovative team” brought him to join JLL. He worked for CBRE for about five years and declined to comment on his commission structure at both firms.

South Florida’s biggest commercial brokerages, including JLL, CBRE, Cushman & Wakefield and Colliers International South Florida, are courting and poaching talent from each other while brokers search for new opportunities.  In 2015, Robert Given made waves when he left CBRE to become vice chairman of capital markets at Cushman in South Florida.

In January, CBRE nabbed Arden Karson from the Related Group. Karson is now senior managing director there, overseeing the brokerage’s three South Florida offices.

Karson wished Nunes well and said that CBRE’s agents are “so well-trained” that its competitors “really try to attract them.”
