The Art of Shaving founder just sold his Journey’s End home in Coral Gables.
Property records show JE Development LLC, a company controlled by Eric Malka, sold the 8,300-square-foot, seven-bedroom mansion at 9550 Journeys End Road to Nua 9550 LLC, a company led by real estate attorney Thomas Ringel. The buyer financed the deal with a $6.1 million mortgage from Florida Community Bank.
Malka was CEO and co-founder of the Art of Shaving, a chain of specialty men’s shaving stores. He’s now CEO of Strategic Brand Investments, a private equity fund based in Miami, according to his LinkedIn profile. He created the shaving company with his wife, co-founder Myriam Zaoui.
His former 1.7-acre Gables estate hit the market in 2014 for $11.4 million, was reduced to about $9 million in 2015 and relisted at the end of 2016 for the same price, according to Realtor.com.
Records show Malka’s LLC paid $3.1 million for the property in 2011.
Chad Oppenheim’s Oppenheim Architecture + Design designed the home and Enzo Enea the landscaping. The property includes a salt water pool, private dock and tennis court, high-end kitchen appliances, a library, office and family room, according to the listing.
In 2015, developer Henry Torres listed his Journey’s End home for $13.95 million. Torres later took it off the market.
