Miami-based 13th Floor Homes is eyeing yet another golf course for residential development.
The home builder wants to build 350 single-family houses and townhouses on 140 acres of the Carolina Club golf course at 3011 North Rock Island Road, according to the Sun Sentinel.
J & D Golf Properties still owns the site. The owner paid $5.3 million for the property, including the country club, in 2002.
Prices for the homes would start in the $400,000s and townhouses in the $300,000s. Mike Nunziata, president of 13th Floor Homes, told the Sun Sentinel that he would leave 80 acres undeveloped and separate the new homes with lakes and landscaping.
Home builders across South Florida are buying and converting golf course land into single-family and townhouse developments.
13th Floor has a number of those projects in its pipeline, including a 525 single-family home community on two 18-hole golf courses in Tamarac. It also built communities on the former Monterey and Sabal Palm golf courses, also in Tamarac, and on an 18-hole golf course in Delray Beach. [Sun Sentinel] – Amanda Rabines
