Lucky’s plans to open three more grocery stores in South Florida

The Colorado-based company has stores in Coral Springs, Oakland Park and Plantation and plans to expand to Boca Raton, Cooper City and Dania Beach

Lucky’s Market plans to expand its chain of grocery stores to multiple markets in Florida including Boca Raton, Cooper City and Dania Beach.

Boulder, Colorado-based Lucky’s will open the new grocery stores in South Florida and elsewhere in the state within two years.

Lucky’s already has three South Florida locations in Coral Springs, Oakland Park and Plantation and plans two open three more in Boca Raton, Cooper City and Dania Beach.

The company’s upcoming expansion in Florida also will put Lucky’s locations in Bonita Springs, Cape Coral, Colonial Landings, Fort Myers, Hunters Creek, Lake Mary, Naples, Orlando, Port Charlotte, Port St. Lucie, Vineland and Winter Park

The grocery-store chain serves beer and wine to customers who can clip cup holders to their carts and imbibe while they shop.

About half of the food is organic at Lucky’s Market locations, and the company cures and smokes such meat products as bacon and sausages.

Citing new research by commercial property brokerage JLL, the Business Observer reported that the combined square feet of space at Florida grocery stores grew by 6 percent last year and 4.8 percent in 2016.

According to JLL, Florida ranked fifth among the 50 states in the amount of new grocery-store space that opened in 2017. The other four top-ranked states are California, North Carolina, Texas and Virginia. [Sun-Sentinel] Mike Seemuth
