Wealthy property buyers who want to live like a cowboy may find a place to do it out west –  the west coast of Florida, that is.

The owners of a ranch in DeSoto County, near Punta Gorda, listed it for sale for $26.3 million, or about $6,500 per acre.

Known as the BR Ranch, the 4,047-acre property has two houses, each about 3,000 square feet, a couple of horse barns and several fishing ponds.

About 1,900 acres of the ranch in southwest Florida is suitable for agriculture and raising livestock, including bout 300 acres leased to producers of fruits, vegetables and hay.

The larger of the two houses has 3,037 square feet of living space, including four bedrooms and three and a half bathrooms. The kitchen has granite counter tops and stainless-steel appliances. The house also has a screened-in swimming pool.

The smaller, 2900-square-foot house is a three-bedroom, three-bathroom residence that features wooden floors, walls and ceilings made of cypress and pine. Both houses have a living room with a stone fireplace.

The brokerage firm with the listing is Kohler & Associates.

The property is 16 miles from Punta Gorda, according to the listing for BR Ranch on Kohler’s website. [MansionGlobal]Mike Seemuth
