Family of late equestrian star sells 16-acre Wellington estate for $10.5M

The family of a former equestrian star just sold a 16-acre estate in Wellington to a Brazilian technology executive for $10.5 million.

A company tied to Mauricio Frizzarin, the president of São Paulo-based Folhamatic Tecnologia em Sistemas, a software company, bought the estate at 15725 Sunset Lane for about $633,000 per acre, records show.

The property hit the market in November for $16 million, according to Redfin. That means it sold for more than 34 percent off the original asking price.

The seller, Rancho Golden Point, is linked to the family of the late Venezuelan equestrian rider Andres Rodriguez, according to Rodolfo Maya of Illustrated Properties Wellington. Maya represented the buyer and seller in the deal.

Rodriguez was a silver medalist at the 2015 Pan-American Games and was preparing for the upcoming Olympic games before he died in a car accident about two years ago in Wellington at the age of 31. He was a top 50 equestrian rider in the world.

Rancho Golden Point purchased the land in 2013 and built the estate and equestrian facility in 2016. It includes a 5,800-square foot house with six bedrooms and six bathrooms, as well as a 20-stall center aisle barn, four grooming stalls and two tack rooms. It also has a covered and outdoor arena and a derby field.
