Gilda Crackers family lists Coral Gables mansion

The founder of Gilda Crackers and the family matriarch are looking to sell their Coral Gables mansion for $6.2 million – the equivalent of about 500,000 bags of the Cuban crackers.

Juan and Velma Blazquez listed the six-bedroom, 8,804-square-foot home at 9400 Old Cutler Road with Hilda Jacobson and Rafael Montejo of Douglas Elliman. The Mediterranean-style “Villa Ventura” was built in 1970 and renovated in 2000.

Blazquez founded the cracker company in the U.S. in 1967, according to Gilda Industries’ website. Its products are sold at Walmart stores, Winn-Dixie, Sam’s Club, Publix, Sedano’s and BJ’s Wholesale Club. Gilda Crackers cost about $12.40 per bag.

The Blazquez’ 1.5-acre property features fruit trees, palms, oak trees, a pool with a waterfall, outdoor kitchen and a covered patio. The home includes Swarovski crystal chandeliers, ornate columns, mosaics, and a master suite.

The couple paid $1.25 million for the property in 1999, records show.

About a mile south, developer Don Peebles and his wife Katrina have their Gables estate on the market for $12.9 million.
