Miami Association of Realtors agrees to collaborate with 15 counterparts in Mexico

The Miami Association of Realtors signed collaboration deals with multiple associations of real estate agents in Mexico as South Florida homes gain appeal among Mexican investors.

In addition to other reasons, “the shift to a new Mexican president this year amidst continued political instability is also leading Mexican buyers to purchase in South Florida,” George C. Jalil, chairman of the board of the Miami Association of Realtors, said in a prepared statement.

Mexican citizens spent $284 million to buy South Florida homes, accounting for about 4 percent of all foreign residential investment in the tri-county area, according to a 2017 report by the National Association of Realtors and the Miami Association of Realtors.

The Miami Realtors group signed collaboration agreements with 15 local chapters of the Mexican Association of Real Estate Professionals, also known as AMPI.

The local chapters, or “sections,” are based in major cities across Mexico including:

~Cuautitlan Izcalli in the northern Mexico City metropolitan area.

~Ciudad de Pueblo in Central Mexico on the main route between Mexico City and Veracruz.

~Veracruz, a major port city on the Gulf of Mexico in the state of Veracruz.

~Juarez, the most populous city in the Mexican state of Chihuahua.

~Tijuana, the biggest city in the Mexican state of Baja California.

The Miami Association of Realtors has been signing international collaboration agreements since 1996 and has 204 such deals in place, including 30 signed last year, a new annual record. These agreements extend the reach of the Miami Realtors group to more than 50 foreign countries. – Mike Seemuth
