UPDATED, Feb. 15, 2:20 p.m.: Compass is expanding its presence in Palm Beach.
The brokerage acquired Hall Real Estate, an 11-agent boutique firm led by broker Steve Hall, and brought on Elizabeth DeWoody, a top producer at Corcoran Group, according to a press release.
Hall and his team will continue working out of their office, at 140 Royal Palm Way, until the lease ends in a few months. Hall said it was “obvious” that Compass’ technology and services would be beneficial for the brokerage’s clients. He declined to provide terms of the deal.
Compass said the agents will be “anywhere agents,” not officially tied to one office.
After expanding nationwide last year – increasing from 37 markets to 122, hiring over 1,000 employees and signing on almost 6,000 new agents – Compass CEO Robert Reffkin said the brokerage won’t enter new markets this year, instead focusing on hiring and growth in its current markets. In December, Compass announced that The Pam and Toni Team, including Pam Thomes, Toni Valentino and Teri Jacobsen, left Keller Williams to lead Compass’ new office in Boca Raton.
Hall created his firm in 2011 and has more than 20 years of experience. His sales and leasing volume totals more than $300 million over the past five years.
DeWoody averages more than $20 million in sales per year, according to the release. Before working in real estate, she worked for Procter & Gamble and Johnson & Johnson in sales and marketing roles, and is board development chair of Susan G. Komen, as well as chair of the organization’s annual race.
Corcoran, DeWoody’s former brokerage, said last year that it was expanding throughout South Florida with new offices in West Palm Beach and Palm Beach.
Correction: An earlier version of this story stated that Hall Real Estate’s office is the first for Compass in Palm Beach. It is not an official Compass office, according to a spokesperson.
