A member of the Riley Smith Group at EWM Realty International left to start her own team at One Sotheby’s International Realty.
Jessica Adams, director of luxury sales for Smith’s group, closed about $50 million in sales volume last year. Smith’s team was the third top producer for single-family home sales last year, with nearly $111.5 million in sales, according to The Real Deal’s ranking of on-market sales in 2018.
Adams will be based out of One Sotheby’s office in Coral Gables. She’s bringing two agents with her, Daniela Saenz and Erika Bedoya, as well as her husband, Strang Architecture partner Jason Adams, who handles operations of the team as its chief operations officer.
Adams said Smith gave her her start in real estate more than seven years ago and has been a mentor to her, but “I think we both realized it was time for me to branch out on my own and develop my own brand.” She was previously an occupational therapist and hand therapist at the University of Miami.
Smith’s team expanded quickly over the past year, up to 20 agents.
Adams spoke to all of the major brokerages, including EWM, but decided to join One Sotheby’s because of the support the company’s agents give each other, she said.
Ron Shuffield, president of EWM, said in a statement that, “Riley and I both enjoyed working with her and wish her well as she establishes her business as an individual agent.”
Her focus is on the $1 million to $3 million range of residential properties in Coconut Grove, but she also has sales in Coral Gables and Pinecrest. She’s bringing listings with her, including the nearly $2 million listing of 1840 and 2800 Chucunantah Road in the Grove, an estate with a main house and a two-apartment duplex.
