The Alex & Joe Team has a new home base.

Alex Miranda and Joe Padula left One Sotheby’s International Realty and joined Compass on Monday, The Real Deal has learned. The 14-person team will be working out of Compass’ Miami Beach office at 605 Lincoln Road, Miranda said.

Miranda and Padula worked at One Sotheby’s since October 2015, and before that were with Zilbert International Realty, which was later acquired by Brown Harris Stevens. Since 2008, they’ve closed deals totaling more than $300 million, according to a release.

They were also the No. 1 team at One Sotheby’s in 2017 with $36.1 million in sales and No. 2 last year with $58.1 million in closed sales volume, Miranda said. Miranda and Padula, who are married, are members of the Master Brokers Forum, a professional organization of brokers in Miami. They are also board members of the Midtown Miami Community Development District. They’re active in Midtown Miami, as well as in luxury residential and mixed-use projects and commercial real estate throughout Miami.

The team also has the rights to Highrises.com in Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach counties, which Miranda said was a big factor in the team’s decision to join Compass.

“I was approached [by Compass] at the same time I was finding a way to grow Highrises.com and it was a great fit,” he said, adding that “it was a lot easier to do it through Compass because they have the engineering support to grow the Highrises.com brand globally.”

Daniel de la Vega, president of One Sotheby’s, said the firm was “grateful for the partnership of the Alex & Joe Team.” He said the brokerage wants to ensure it is “aligned with teams who value the tools, technology, leadership and global network” offered to agents and clients.

Compass has been recruiting agents from other firms as it continues growing in South Florida. Sylvia Cherry and Gary Hecht of The Cherry Group, as well as Luis Gonell, previously with Engel & Völkers, recently joined Compass. Gonell recently brokered the sale of Avra Jain’s Miami Beach home.
