UPDATED, July 12, 10:53 a.m.: Coral Gables investor Tony Blank sold his waterfront estate in the gated Journey’s End neighborhood for nearly $14 million.
Blank, who owned the 8,700-square-foot, six-bedroom, seven-and-a-half bathroom home through a trust, sold the property to Anthony M. Lopez, according to a spokesperson for One Sotheby’s International Realty. The sale marks the highest in Journey’s End, which near Gables Estates.
Dennis Carvajal of One Sotheby’s represented the buyer and seller.
The 2.2-acre property was developed in 2007 and includes a home theater, basketball court, a pool, dock and cabana. It has more than 300 feet of water frontage. It’s not too far from supermodel Elle Macpherson’s home, which she purchased last year for $8.1 million after her divorce from Jeffrey Soffer.
Blank owns TB Cap LLC, a real estate investment firm, according to LinkedIn.
Gables Estates and the surrounding Coral Gables neighborhoods are home to a number of wealthy entrepreneurs, including developer Mike Fernandez, Armando Codina, Javier Cervera and technology billionaire Manny Medina.
Medina, who sold his company, Terremark, to Verizon Communications for $1.4 billion in 2011, recently listed his mansion for sale asking $17.5 million.
About two years ago, auto magnate Alan Potamkin sold his Gables Estates mansion for $43.7 million, setting a new record.
Correction: An earlier version of this story incorrectly stated that Journey’s End is part of Gables Estates. It is a separate neighborhood.
