Two former CREC brokers joined JLL, roughly nine months after CREC merged with Colliers International South Florida.
Steven Hurwitz and Douglas Okun are now managing directors with JLL’s agency leasing services, according to a release. They’ll work on growing the brokerage’s business in South Florida, with a focus on Miami Beach, Coconut Grove, Coral Gables and Miami Airport West.
Hurwitz and Okun both worked for CREC, which was short for the Continental Real Estate Companies, for over 17 years and 14 years, respectively, according to their LinkedIn profiles. Colliers acquired the Coral Gables-based brokerage in November. They were both executive managing directors with Colliers.
Hurwitz was responsible for landlord and tenant representation for large institutional firms, private equity companies and local businesses, including Deutsche Bank, Zurich Insurance, KBS Realty Advisors, East End Properties and Ivy Realty, according to the release.
Okun oversaw office leasing for clients that included RREEF, Zurich, Colony Realty Partners, Brookwood, ProMed/Gazit and Resorts World Miami.
The move comes amid increased consolidation in the commercial real estate brokerage world.
On July 1, JLL closed on the acquisition of HFF for about $2 billion in cash and stocks. The companies said earlier this year that they expect to see $28 million in cost savings in the first year due to the merger, along with an 11 percent increase in fee revenues.
