Ben Carson, head of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, will be among the roster of speakers at The Real Deal‘s annual Real Estate Showcase & Forum in Miami.

This is the sixth year TRD is hosting the Miami forum, which is one of the most highly attended real estate events in the state. This year, the event will be held on Oct. 17 at Mana Wynwood, where panelists will include Grant Cardone, who operates a $1.2 billion property portfolio; Peggy Olin, whose OneWorld Properties has done more than $3 billion in residential sales; and developer Don Peebles.

Panels will include discussions on gender- and race-diversity in the real estate industry, the long-term effects of the co-living and co-working economies and development.

The diversity panel will be led by Peebles, who recently launched a $500 million investment fund for minority and women developers in markets that include South Florida, New York and Los Angeles.
