Movers & Shakers: Duff Rubin takes over Coldwell Banker in Florida & more

Duff Rubin was promoted to president of Coldwell Banker in Florida, responsible for overseeing roughly 7,100 agents across Florida.

Rubin was previously president of the company’s residential brokerage business in the Mid-Atlantic, in charge of 28 officers and more than 2,400 agents in the Baltimore, Washington D.C., northern Virginia, Maryland and Delaware beaches markets. In Florida, he will be overseeing about 80 offices.

Rubin said he will focus the next 12 months on retention, as more real estate brokerages enter the Florida market. Rubin succeeded former company president Clark Toole, who retired at the end of last year.

Marcus & Millichap promoted David Purisch to senior director of capital markets. Purisch, who is based in Fort Lauderdale, has been with Marcus & Millichap since 2015.

Jordan Thaler joined Hyperion Group as vice president of acquisitions from Silverstein Properties. Thaler previously held the same role at APF Properties.

Alejandro Snyder and Michael Williams joined Current Real Estate Advisors’ Miami office as directors of investment sales, specializing in retail and office. Snyder and Williams were both previously with Tiktin Real Estate Investment Services and have closed more than $100 million in sales since 2018. Current Real Estate expanded to Miami in September.

KW Property Management & Consulting promoted Suzette Diaz, Zuly Maribona, Bruce Masia and Alex Martin to partners at the company.

Gov. Ron DeSantis appointed Janet Rabin, Herbert Jourdan and Shawn Wilson to the Florida Real Estate Appraisal Board. He also named Patricia “Patti” Ketcham, Renee Butler, Patricia Fitzgerald, Randy Schwartz and Richard Barbara to the Florida Real Estate Commission.

Amerant Bancorp named Gerald P. Plush vice chairman and CEO, and announced the retirement of Millar Wilson. Also, Amerant Bank formed Amerant Mortgage, LLC.

Adam Fischer is now general counsel for Tricera Capital. He was an associate at McDermott Will & Emery in Miami.

Amrit Ocean Resort & Residences selected a new sales team under Compass. Sales manager Daisy Bilbao will lead the team along with senior sales director Morgan Lydon, and sales directors Kari Lydon and William Tome.

Melissa Tapanes Llahues, who specializes in land use and zoning law, was elected chairperson of the city of Miami’s Miami 21 task force. She was appointed by commissioner Manolo Reyes to represent his district, district 4.

Steven W. Zelkowitz joined Spiritus Law as managing partner. Zelkowitz was previously a managing partner of Fox Rothschild’s Miami office. Jonathan Portuondo joined as an associate working closely with Zelkowitz.

SRS Real Estate Partners promoted Alex Bisbee to vice president in the Orlando office. Bisbee has worked at SRS since 2016.
