Movers & Shakers: Basis Industrial Taps Director

Firms are continuing to bulk up their South Florida teams in the latest roundup of the region’s real estate hiring news.

In Boca Raton, Basis Industrial tapped Morgan Clark as director of investor relations, a press release shows. Clark will oversee all operational and capital management activities for the firm’s investment funds. He joins Basis from Foundry Commercial in Orlando, where he led investor relations and fund management and oversaw investment funds totaling $4 billion, the release shows. 

Fort Lauderdale-based BBX Logistics Properties hired Francisco Reyna as vice president of development, according to a press release. Reyna joins the firm from Link Logistics Real Estate in Miami, where he was an assistant vice president of development for two years, LinkedIn shows. In his new role, Reyna will head all aspects of development and report to the also newly hired Justin Dunn, BBX’s managing director of development. 

Bilzin Sumberg is bulking up its Miami real estate practice. The firm is bringing in Miami Beach City Attorney Rafael Paz as a partner after his time in office ends May 28, according to a press release. At Bilzin Sumberg, Paz will focus his practice on land use, public-private partnerships and government relations, according to the release. 

In April, Bilzin Sumberg added former Miami-Dade Circuit Court Judge Michael Hanzman as a partner in its real estate practice. Hanzman oversaw the litigation following the collapse of Champlain Towers South in Surfside, and approved more than $1 billion in payouts in the case in 2022.

The law firm Day Pitney added two attorneys, Steven J. Wernick and Joseph A. Ruiz, to join its Miami office’s real estate, land use and environmental practices, according to a release. Wernick is joining as a partner, and Ruiz is joining as counsel. 

Wernick previously founded Wernick & Co, a Miami-based law firm specializing in land use, in 2019. Ruiz also worked at Wernick & Co. Day Pitney is absorbing the firm’s staff in the move as well, according to the release. 

The move comes a year after Day Pitney hired Daniel Diaz Levya as a partner to head its real estate law practice in the Miami office, absorbing his Diaz Levya Group in the process. 

Zach Feldman is joining Katz & Associates in the firm’s Boca Raton office as a senior director focused on tenant and landlord representation, a press release shows. Prior to this role, Feldman was a leasing representative for Konover South for seven years, where he oversaw a 1.4 million square foot portfolio. 

Lee & Associates promoted Conner Milford to senior vice president in its Miami office, according to a press release. Milford was previously a vice president with the firm, where he has worked since 2019.

Miami-based Apex Capital Realty hired J.R. Flores as its sales director, a press release shows. He was previously an adviser with Selling 321 in the Space Coast, LinkedIn shows.
