WeatherTech founder David MacNeil dropped $38.5 million on an oceanfront Manalapan estate, six months after selling his Fort Lauderdale pad for a record $40 million.

Records show MacNeil bought the 2-acre compound at 1120 South Ocean Boulevard from an LLC named for the address and managed by local attorney Maura Ziska. The true seller is unknown.

Gary Pohrer and Nick Malinosky of the Exclusive Group at Douglas Elliman had the listing, and Tim Elmes of Compass brought the buyer. They declined to comment.

MacNeil founded WeatherTech in 1989. The Bolingbrook, Illinois-based firm is best known for its floor mats. He is one of the world’s top car collectors and owns an $80 million superyacht named W, according to published reports.

In October, MacNeil sold an oceanfront mansion in Fort Lauderdale to Bang Energy founder Jack Owoc for $40 million, marking a price record for Broward County.

The Manalapan estate’s selling entity paid $30.7 million for the property in 2021, records show. Built in 1955, the compound includes a 10,300-square-foot, eight-bedroom, five-and-a-half bathroom mansion, two pools, a mini golf course and 193 feet of frontage on both the ocean and the Intracoastal Waterway, according to the listing. It was designed by John Volk, a renowned 20th century Palm Beach architect.

The seller first listed the compound in 2022 asking $49 million, before upping the price to $58.5 million, Compass shows. The listing price dropped to $48 million in 2023, before landing at $39.5 million in February.

South Florida’s luxury market has seen a wave of eight-figure deals closing following price cuts in recent months. Earlier this week, a spec developer sold a Palm Beach mansion for $44 million, $4 million below the asking price.

Manalapan has seen a string of developers buying up ocean-to-lake estates in recent months. In March, the town’s former mayor, Stewart Satter, bought a 4-acre teardown for $27.5 million. In January, Hamptons developer Joe Farrell was linked to the $32.5 million purchase of an incomplete mansion. In December, a lender bought an incomplete oceanfront mansion from Nigerian oil magnate Onajite Okoloko for $21.5 million
