The widow of a construction mogul sold her waterfront Key Biscayne home for $19.5 million, marking the latest pricey sale on the island enclave this summer.
Records show Marta Gutierrez sold the house at 200 Harbor Drive to Harbor Drive Properties LLC, a Florida entity. The true buyer is unknown.
Cristina Greeven of Coldwell Banker Realty had the listing.
Gutierrez is the widow of Juan Gutierrez, founder and chairman of Jag Companies. Jag is the parent company for Northeast Remsco Construction, Caldwell Marine International, and Huxted Trenchless, all civil construction firms based in New Jersey and Texas. Jag is one of the largest Hispanic-owned businesses in the United States, according to its website. Gutierrez was also formerly vice chairman of the Cuban American National Foundation, a prominent anti-Castro organization in Miami. He died last year, according to his obituary.
The couple bought the Key Biscayne home for $4.7 million in 2008, records show. Built in 1972 on nearly half an acre, the 2,600-square-foot house has three bedrooms, three bathrooms and a pool, according to property records. It spans 100 feet of waterfront and has a dock and a man-made private beach, the listing shows.
Marta Gutierrez first listed it for $21 million in May, according to Redfin. The buyer tapped Coldwell Banker agent Carlos Mandiola to relist the home for $25.9 million this month, Redfin shows.
This sale marks the latest in a string of eight-figure Key Biscayne deals this year. Earlier this month, Florida Surface Pro founder Douglas Secrest sold his waterfront home for $15.7 million. Medical device mogul Gerald Slemko sold his waterfront teardown for $19.3 million in May. Late former Miami mayor Maurice A. Ferré’s son sold a waterfront teardown for $16.5 million in March.
