In the latest roundup of South Florida luxury residential deals, pioneering Chicago auctioneer Leslie Hindman sold her Palm Beach house for $9.8 million.

Other luxury deals were in Fort Lauderdale and Delray Beach. Sales ranged in price from $8.7 million to $13.8 million. 

Fort Lauderdale

In Fort Lauderdale, the family of a late real estate developer and attorney sold his waterfront mansion for $13.8 million.

Records show James L. Case III and Elise Case sold the house at 2509 Aqua Vista Boulevard to a trust named for the address and managed by attorney Sam Caliendo.

Alexander Goldstein of Miles Goldstein Real Estate had the listing. 

The Cases are the children of James L. Case II, a developer and real estate attorney who owned a portfolio of shopping centers, according to his obituary. He died in 2019. 

Case bought the Aqua Vista Boulevard property in 2001 for $1.6 million, according to property records. He built the 12,300-square-foot mansion on half an acre in 2004, records show. It includes eight bedrooms, 10 bathrooms, six half-bathrooms, a wine room, three laundry rooms, a theater, a gym with spa facilities, a pool and 200 feet of waterfront, according to the listing. 

The Cases listed it for $17.9 million in April, Redfin shows. 

Delray Beach

In Delray Beach, the wife of Michigan-based developer Mitchell Bleznak bought a spec house for $8.7 million in an off-market deal.

Records show Bleznak Delray Beach House LLC, a Florida entity managed by Michele Bleznak, bought the house at 1126 North Vista Del Mar Drive from spec developer Thomas Laudani’s 1126 VDM LLC.

Mitchell Bleznak heads Bleznak Real Estate Group and Woodbury Property Management in Birmingham, Michigan. 

Laudani is the owner of Seaside Builders, a Delray Beach-based spec development firm. His Seaside affiliate bought the 0.3-acre North Vista Del Mar Drive property for $1.8 million in 2021, records show. He completed construction of the 4,800-square-foot house earlier this year. It has five bedrooms, six bathrooms, one half-bathroom and a pool, a previous listing shows. 

Palm Beach

In Palm Beach, auctioneer Leslie Hindman sold her house for $9.3 million.

Hindman sold the house as 123 Australian Avenue to Thomas D. Rutherfoord Jr. and Jean Rutherfoord, according to property records.

Lisa Cregan of Sotheby’s International Realty had the listing, and Crista Ryan of Tina Fanjul Associates brought the buyers. 

Thomas D. Rutherfoord Jr. is an heir of the Roanoke, Virginia-based Rutherfoord family, which founded their namesake insurance firm more than a century ago. The family sold the insurance business to Marsh & McLennan Agency in 2010, according to published reports. 

Hindman is the founder of the Chicago-based auction house Leslie Hindman Auctioneers. She sold the business and is no longer affiliated with it, according to published reports. After a merger announced in January, the auction house is now known as Freeman’s | Hindman. It has handled sales for many prominent estates since its inception in 1982. In May, Freeman’s | Hindman sold a portion of Madeleine Albright’s personal collection, according to a press release. 

Hindman bought the Australian Avenue home for $3.9 million in 2021, records show. Built in 1924 on 0.2 acres, the 3,000-square-foot house has four bedrooms, four bathrooms, one half-bathroom and a pool, according to the listing and records. She listed it for $10.5 million in June. 

Hindman listed her address as the historic Venetian palace replica she bought in Chicago in 2012. It is currently listed for $3.8 million, Redfin shows.
