Baywood Hotels scored approval for a 124-key Hyatt House hotel in Doral, amid an uptick in hospitality project proposals across South Florida.
The six-story building will rise on the vacant portion of the 3.3-acre site at 10234 Northwest 19th Street, adjacent to an existing 135-key Residence Inn by Marriott. On Wednesday, the town council unanimously approved the project.
Doral-based Easton Group owns the property and will lease the Hyatt House development site to Baywood, also based in Doral, city records show.
Developers across South Florida have been filing hotel proposals. In Miami’s Wynwood, a group of German firms plans an eight-story, 214-key hotel with 87 condos on the southeast corner of Northwest 23rd Street and Northwest First Place. A Wynwood projects review board approved the project this week. In Pompano Beach, billionaire Bill Malhotra’s real estate firm Claridge Homes wants to build a 15-story, 220-room Courtyard by Marriott at 101 South Ocean Boulevard, near the oceanfront.
Also, the Toledano family’s BH Group and Prime Group plan a 15-story hotel with 246 keys and a public plaza at 804 South Federal Highway in Hallandale Beach.
