Miami-Dade County Fire Rescue responded to a construction accident that left three workers injured at the Surfside site of a Fort Partners condo project.
Two of the injured were transported with traumatic injuries, and a third was taken by ground to a local hospital, according to a spokesperson for Miami-Dade County Fire Rescue (MDFR). The agency received the call at 11:08 a.m. Friday.
Footage from the incident shows emergency responders at 9165 Collins Avenue, the site of Fort Partners’ planned 11-story, 14-unit Hillcrest by the Sea condos. The developer, led by Nadim Ashi, bought the 1-acre oceanfront site for $41.5 million in 2023. It is part of Ashi’s wider investment into the oceanfront stretch of Collins Avenue surrounding Four Seasons Residences at the Surf Club, a luxury condo-hotel complex he completed in 2017.
Fort Partners confirmed the accident in a statement, saying three team members with GM&P Consulting and Glazing Contractors were injured while offloading glass panels from a delivery truck for the developer’s project. The incident occurred within the container while still on the delivery truck. Fort Partners said it will release more details when they become available.
The site of the accident is adjacent to the newly completed Seaway at the Surf Club at 9149 Collins Avenue. Closings began at the Seaway in October, and deals have included a $31.1 million purchase linked to health care mogul Frederick Howe and a $14.6 million purchase by Stronach Group CEO Belinda Stronach.
This is a developing story.
