Scrap metal mogul Adam Weitsman found a buyer for his oceanfront penthouse in Sunny Isles Beach, asking nearly $35 million.
The pending sale topped last week’s Eklund-Gomes report, which tracks listings of homes and condos asking $4 million and up in Miami-Dade County that are included in the Multiple Listing Service. Buyers signed 14 contracts between April 7 and April 13. The properties spent about 145 days on the market, on average.
Fifty-eight luxury listings were added to the market, for a total of 1,362 listings.
The asking dollar volume for the six single-family homes and eight condos under contract last week totals $136.7 million, according to the report, which is authored by the Douglas Elliman team led by Fredrik Eklund and John Gomes.
At the top of the report is Weistman’s 56th floor condo at Jade Signature in Sunny Isles Beach. An LLC controlled by him paid $23.5 million in 2022 for the 11,661-square-foot unit at 16901 Collins Avenue. The penthouse, with seven bedrooms and nine and a half bathrooms, includes a two-story primary suite, a game room, bar and wine room, and more than 7,500 square feet of terraces. The condos that secured buyers last week had an average asking price of $11 million and spent 163 days on the market, on average. They totaled $87.8 million in asking dollar volume, or $2,406 per square foot.
The single-family homes that entered into contract last week had an average asking price of $8.1 million and spent an average of 122 days on the market. They totaled $48.9 million in asking dollar volume.
The priciest single-family home to secure a buyer last week is the 8,014-square-foot house at 9737 West Broadview Drive in Bay Harbor Islands. The non-waterfront home, with six bedrooms and five and a half bathrooms, sits on a half-acre lot. It was built in 2019 and designed by Ralph Choeff, according to the listing. The previous week, buyers signed contracts for 16 properties in Miami-Dade, asking a combined $208.3 million.
Last week in New York, buyers signed contracts for 29 homes, according to the latest Olshan report. Their combined asking price was $213.2 million, and the typical home spent 818 days on the market.
