Ex-Dodgers Player Lists Miami Beach Spec House for $75M

Alex Guerrero is out to prove he has an ear for luxury real estate.

The former Los Angeles Dodgers infielder listed a spec home at 3100 North Bay Road in Miami Beach for $75 million, the Wall Street Journal reported. He purchased the waterfront site only two years ago for $13.6 million.

The home is expected to span 10,250 square feet, pinning the listing at $7,317 per square foot. It will have seven bedrooms and three kitchens, one outdoor and one for catering service.

The half-acre property will also feature an infinity-edge pool, a dock, a hot tub and an 18-car garage with a waterfall at the entrance, triggered by sensors to stop when cars approach.

The property is due to be completed next year, giving a buyer time to ask for customizations before Guerrero puts on the finishing touches. Douglas Elliman’s Lourdes Alatriste has the listing.

North Bay Road is growing a reputation as an enclave for the wealthiest in Miami-Dade County. David and Victoria Beckham paid more than $72 million for a waterfront home on the strip last year, while Todd Michael Glaser and his partners are poised to notch a record after entering contract for a $105 million home.

Guerrero is also developing a reputation for big swings. Two years ago, Guerrero sold a waterfront spec home on Miami Beach’s Palm Island for $17.2 million. The buyer was Fred Courtot, chief executive officer and founder of ModFind, a website for buying and selling car parts.

He also recently proposed a 234-unit Live Local Act tower in Miami’s Wynwood Norte neighborhood. The 41-story project would include 94 units for households earning no more than 120 percent of the area median income.

The Cuban defector played in the majors for the Dodgers in 2014 and 2015, before a stint in Japan. Guerrero gained some notoriety after teammate Miguel Olivo bit off part of his ear during a dugout fight at a 2014 minor league game, resulting in a difficult plastic surgery.
